Sonic Boom Six release new single ‘Future Shock’ and announce RE:Generation compilation album

Genre-smashing Sonic Boom Six are back with a boom! Last month, they released the video for ‘Future Shock’, a brand new track and lead single off their upcoming compilation album ‘RE:Generation’. Sonic Boom Six made the single, along with new track ‘One Of The Boys’, available to download and on streaming platforms on 6 October 2023. The release comes ahead of their ‘RE:Generation’ tour, with dates in Bristol, Nottingham, Birmingham, Manchester and London. The much-anticipated album will celebrate the band’s incredible two decades of releases and world tours.
‘Future Shock’ (co-produced and mixed by James Loughrey with co-production and recording by band member James Routh) is a classic Sonic Boom Six style song – both longtime and new fans can revel in the catchy chorus and satisfying bass line. But what really makes this a classic Sonic Boom Six track is that they’ve also done what they do best by mashing up sounds, adding in a heavy breakdown and very desi-sounding guitar riff – well it sounds desi to my desi ear anyway! Laila Khan’s distinctive voice guides us through the verses and into the choruses, with Barney Boom rapping. The breakdown guarantees a good old mosh pit when the song is played live on tour – this is a definite crowd pleaser. The striking video is made up of clips of the band overlaying retro and futuristic looking snippets, fitting the lyrics about feeling overwhelmed about what the future holds and their horror at the increasingly polarised state of social media discourse.
As one of the first comments stated on YouTube, “this song is a pure distillation of all eras of SB6. Love it” – and I couldn’t agree more.
Sonic Boom Six are set to inspire a renewed sense of enthusiasm among their fans after taking some time over the last few years to step back, watch and create. With live shows infamous for "clashing activism and good times", Sonic Boom Six’s legendary gigs are a party that many will be glad to see is back, transcending genres and connecting people from all walks of life.
