‘For Those We Lost’ is a compilation album raising funds for Medical Aid for Palestinians curated by London-based art pop and hip-hop artist Floralis, and assisted by DJ Priya, who has previously been featured on Mixmag and the BBC Asian Network. The album was released last month under the not-for-profit Scottish DIY label, Heavenly Creature Records via Bandcamp, and was created to gather support – as well as raise funds – for the thousands of Palestinians living under difficult and severe conditions in Gaza, as a result of their continual displacement in the ongoing war and among political instability.
You will find that the album is sprinkled with heavy, contagious guitar riffs, powerful kicks and snare drums, and distorted vocals - featuring tracks such as ‘UTOPIA’ by Mirrored Fatality, ‘Slapping Fascists’ by Lowlives Collective and ‘THE ITEM GIRL’ by Kapil Seshasayee, capturing how we feel about injustice and struggle. Every track on the album is either an original or a rare track composed by the participating artists, showcasing some of the best sound in the alternative music space this year. The album is brave, uncompromising, energetic and will take you on a journey through a grungy, pop, and overall heavy alternative sound.
