Celebrating two years of WEIRDO Zine at the Museum of Youth Culture
Back in March, we celebrated two years since we published our first print issue with an event at the Museum of Youth Culture (MOYC) in London. We took over the basement at the MOYC and put on exhibition showcasing photography and art from both issues, shared photos from those of you who sent us your photos and hosted a panel discussion.
It was amazing to finally be able to come together in real life and celebrate South Asian people in the alt scene. Thank you to everyone who came along to celebrate with us!

South Asian musicians in the alternative scene panel discussion
We hosted a panel discussion on being a musician in the alternative scene with Laila Khan (Sonic Boom Six), Nadia Javed (The Tuts) and Dewan-Dean Soomary (Teenage Sequence) who were interviewed for The Music Issue (Issue 2). The panel was hosed by poet and music journalist Jay Mitra who was also in that issue. We filmed the panel discussion and you can now watch it back on YouTube.
We are currently working on Issue 3 which will explore fashion and beauty - with themes including South Asian influence on subculture fashion, beauty standards and cultural appropriation. If you’d like to help support our work, please buy our zines or leave a donation.
