The Music Issue is open for submissions
We’re very excited to announce that issue 2 of WEIRDO zine is underway! The Music Issue focuses on alternative South Asian representation across the music industry. We'll be speaking with musicians, gig organisers, journalists, playlist makers and more about their experiences in the industry. We already have some incredible interviews lined up and now we’re looking for music fans to be part of this issue.
The aim of this issue is to not only document the barriers faced by South Asian people on the alt music scene, but also inspire people to pursue a career in music, encourage you to attend more gigs post-COVID and connect you with people on the scene.
Here’s how you can be part of The Music Issue
Gig-goers
Share a photo from and a few lines about a favourite rock/alt/punk gig you’ve been to from any year. The live music industry has been hugely impacted by COVID - tell us what you miss, what you’re looking forward to or a memory from a gig.
WEIRDO Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
Submit your nominations for our Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Who are some of your favourite South Asian musicians on the alternative and rock scenes? Let us know and we’ll induct them into the WEIRDO Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Musicians with a release in 2021
If you’re a musician and are releasing or have released music in 2021, please send us your press kit (including images and where to buy/stream your music) and we’ll promote your release in our next issue and on our website.
Personal Essays
Got something you want to write or have already written that would be perfect for The Music Issue? Drop us an email to pitch your idea. Just send us 200-300 words explaining your idea, including why it’s suitable for this issue.
